A CORRECTION.
♦ [To THE EDITOR OF THE TIMBS.J Sib,— ln your report of the meeting on February 28. 1 wish to correct the statement referring to me. What I taid at the meeting of directors of January 7tb, I was this— When the application from Mr Gorrie was presented there was a!l the directors present, except Mr Tren» nery. I opposed Mr Gorrie's application on the ground that the shareholder* should hare tbe preference of taking up I the shares, but the majority of the directors were in favour of accepting Mr Gorrie's effer, and they thought the offer so good that they should hare £20 deposit the same evening to bold him to his offer. Although I opposed Mr Gorrie's application, I knew it wat th* full value of the shares at this time ; £ believe they could be got for 31 or 44 in Reefton about that time if a pert n went looking for them. A short tin-- a previous to this, I got shares in th» company from a Greymouth party for nothing.— l am, &0., John M'Quillan. Reefton, 3rd March, 1881.
