KEEP-IT-DARK.

The stoppage of the mill was rendered compulsory last Monday, in consequence of the carrying away of about five chains of fiuming at the uprer end of the race. The heavy Siood on Sunday last caused the river to encroach on that portion of the bank, whereon the flume was erected and caused its destruction. Measures were at once taken to repair the damage, and all despatch has been used with that view, but as it will be necessary to. do some rock cutting to place the race beyond the influence of fufure river encroachments and to secure its permanent safety, the work is more difficult, than at first anticipated, and will probably take another week or ten days before it is finished.
