GOLDEN POINT.
The contractors for the extension of the tunnel are making fair progress, and only about 8 feet more require to be driven to reach the point, at which it is the intention to commence cross-cutting with a view to intersect the lode, which careful surveys have fixed in the near vicinity. The tunnel is now nearly 400 feet in length, and has during its course crossed two or three gold-bearing leaders, but owing to the underlie of the reef, it is considered injudicious to extend it further in a straight direction.
