THE WEEK.
Saturday, March 12. The past week has been almost wholly uneventful in mining matters. The rush for leases seems to have expended itself, for the present, at least, and farther developments are now awaited to give a new bent to interest in tbat quarter of the district. For some time past, operations have been steadily and g«je.tly proceeded with by the Caledonian Extended Company, at Larry's Creek, and the time is now approaching when some practical good may be looked for as the result of the company's enterprise. The picking np of the old Caledonian lode by the company wonld, no doubt, give 1 a great lift to the long neglected Larry's Creek district, and as the work is in good hands we may safely regard this as one of the bright possibilities of the immediate future. The following are the returns for the past week :— Welcome Company, 851 ozs. of amalgam, from 110 tons of stone. Golden Fleece Extended, 280 ozs. of amalgam, from 138 tone of stone (top plates.) United Alpine Comnany, 203 ozs. of ' amalgam, from 124 tons of stone. Nil Desperandum (tributers),44ozi. of amalgam, from 36 tons of stone.
