GOLDEN FLEECE EXTENDED.
A connection was effected during the early part of the week between the No. 3 and No. 4 level, which will prove of great advantage in working the mine with additional facilities in the conveyance of the broken down stone to the snrfaee. It will, moreover, contribute towards the thorough ventilation of the workings. Present aspects would favour the belief of a strong probability of shortly encountering a body of stone between the uprise and the old Ajax block. The Government Inspector of Machinery has visted the mine, and has apparently been favourably impressed with the order of things. One hundred and thirty-eight tons of quartz have been crushed, and the weekly return ofsmalgora from top plates turned the scales at 280 ezs.
