At the District at Hamilton, M'Tavish brought an action against Joseph Ivess», for alleged wrongful diS» missal of tbe editorship of the Waikato Mail, for the sum of £100. Defendant cond acted his, own Case, and contended that the plaintiff had suspended publica* tion of the paper and reproduced old matter, which had appeared in previous issue of Mail. That plaintiff had insulted his customers, resulting in loss and damage to his business. Experts were called on both sides to prove the impropriety of such proceeding. Judge M'Donald gave a verdict for plaintiff for fifty.vjiqtinds-^remarkmg that defen* dant bad conducted his case .with great *kil!, and it was a pity he did riot ho^d brief for others. Defendant gave notice of appeal. Wellington, March 17. At the meeting of creditors in the esi tate of E, JV. Mills, ironmonger, &c, beld to&day, five hundred pounds and his household furniture was voted to the debtor, in acknowledgement of the straightforward manner he had dealt with bis creditors.
