ASSESSMENT COURT.
(Before W. H. Revell, Esq., Judge.) Sattjbdat, Mabch 26th, 1881. Boatman's Riding. R. E. Gulline appeared to bare his name inserted on the roll. Disallowed. Phillip Salmon nppeared to bare bis name inserted. Objection by P, Murphy disallowed. Granted. F. Board man objected to the names of forty»two persons appearing upon the roll, on ibe grounds of their either having left the district or without qualification, or otherwise improperly inserted. Thirtyfour of the objections were held to be good, and the names of the parties erased, and eight of the objections were dis* allowed, and the names of the parties
retained. Eight additional names were also struck out, as being without the necessary qualification. P. Murphy objectej to the names of twenty-one persons appearing upon the roll, and of these three were allowed, and the names struck off, and against the remaining eighteen the objections either failed or were withdrawn, and the names ordered to remain. Eighteen persons applied to have their names inserted on the roll, of which coo was withdrawn, and tbo rest ordered to be inserted. This completed the revision of the Boatman's roll. Antonio's Rol£. The Antonio's roll was next taken. James O'Malley objected to theamount of his valuation of 440 acres, as> being above the actual average he holds, and to the amount, £200 a< set down,, considering that £150 would be a fair valuation. He farther objected to devaluation of other leasehold! held by him. After consideration, the Court reduced the whole hj , ]?♦ M'Gnigsn objected to the nimni of twelve persons appearing on the roll, a» either possessing no qualification or other* wi?>e improperly entered. Of these, the objection failed against eleven person*, and one succeeded. Alfred Beard applied and had his name inserted on the roll, which was granted* This dosed the Antonio's roll. Ckushington Roll. James Kidd and Charles Fraier applied to have their names inserted, and the applications were granted. This closed the applications regarding this roll. MuRBiY Roll. W. R. "Robertson, manager of theNational Bank, appeared to have bis name inserted as the owner of a cottage. Granted. Joseph Treloar applied for a reduction* of his valuation. Reduced to £6. This completed the Murray 8011. Eeeftox 8011, Thirfy«one persons applied to havetheir names inserted on the roll, against which there was no objection, and of these twenty&five names were inserted, tbre-» were withdrawn, and three refused. John Williams objected to fhe name* of thirty-one persons appearing on the roll. Of these, the objection against twenty«spvftn nam*s was disallowed, and the remaining four were struck off, Thomas Plaskett objected to the names of five persons appearing, on the roll, of which three were allowed, and two struck out. Twelve other applications were also made by persons to have their names placed on the roll, and there being na objection the names were placed on. T. Paftinson applied that th* valuation of his property be raised to £52. Granten*. J. Brazil applied for a reduction of bis valuation. Granted. Alfred Smith applied that hi* assess* ment be inoreased to £50. Granted. Thomas Lee applied that the valuation of his properties be increased to £6 and £26, respectively. Granted. B. Allen for reduction of valuation. Rpfiisprf. P M'Guire, similar application. He* fused. J. Jp (Tries for reduction of assessment on sections. Seduced to £6. This completed the whole of the applications befor« the Court in resn«ct to, the Reefton Biding, and the Courc adjourned.
