REEFTTON JOCKEY CLUB.
♦ A meeting of the reorganised Reef ton Jockey Club was held at Cochrane's Hotel on Wednesday evening. Mr W. Williams was voted to the chair. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The secretary stated that the balance in favour of the Ctub at present stood at £50 13* 61, independent of the joining fees of members, which could be coN lected any time, and which would aue* ment the funds of the Club considerably, but not to tbe extent required for the making of the new course ; it wou'd therefore be necessary that the Club, which at present only consisted of those members wbo were present at the meet* ing when the Club was formed, should be extended so as to embrace a larger num. ber. It was thereupon proposed by the Chairman, and seconded by Mr Paine, and carried, that a list of members be prepared, and that Messrs Dick and Quigley be requested to obtain signatures of new members. The secretary submitted fhe plan of the new course, showing a distance of 54 chains 50 links for tbe inner circle, and a discussion ensued as to the required width of the courseway, when it was re» solved that 40 feet for the present would be sufficient. It was then proposed by Mr Paine, seconded by Mr Ooehrane, and carried, that tbe secretary prepare specifications and call for tenders for making tbe course, such tenders to close on Monday next, and tbe time for the completion of the work to be limited to five weeks. The secretary was instructed to order from the publisher, " The New Zealand Turf Register " for tbe use and guidance of the Club, and th,§ meeting was ad" journed until Monday evening at 8.30 o.m.
