Whitelaw, ex-superintendent of tbe Luaatic Asylum, was arrested to*day at tbe instance of fch3 Government, charged with ill-treating ex- patient M'lntosh by means of a shower-bath, as described in tbe evidence in previous telegrams. Up to tbe present time be has been unable to obtain bail. Auckland, April 19 Prociffy, tbe Te Aroba murderer, was acquitted.
