May, the lessee of the Clontarf Flea* sure Ground?, Middle Harbor, has brought an action for libel against the proprietors of the Sydney Bulletin on account of a paragraph which appeared some time ago in that paper. The trial commenced on Thursday, sth instant, and continued daily* but it is unlikely that the case will be concluded this week. The action is exciting great attention and the Court has been crowded daily. , HoBABTON, May 1% The census taken on the 3rd April, shows the population of Tasmania to be 116,000. Melboubne, May 12. In the Legislative Council to«day, the consideration of Reform Bill in commits t*e was concluded. Several important, amendments were carried and the Bill wag read a third time, and ordered to be returned to the Assembly.
