MURRAY CREEK.
GOLDEN TREASURE. lliis property gives erery promise of y soon establishing a character as a highly remunerative concern ia the Murray Creek division. The prospects at prese t are excellent, and the crushing just ended lias given results, which may be cm- I sidered highly satisfactory, inasmuch as 1 the stone had been taken from a sl*ft, which was being «unk on the reef, thus not only .proving the payable nature of the* ground but also the extent thereof, which appears of such magnitude thnt continuous crushing from this block alone may fairly be anticipated for Ihe rest of the year. With this object in vi 'w the manager has during the week opened out in the winze, north and south, at a depth of eighty three feet from the chamber, allowing five or six feet for a well. The distance driven now is nine feet eoch side, snd as soon as room will permit the number of hands, which daring the week was increased to eleven, will be further increased to keep up the supply of stone. The mill, which is now in first«class order, will only be worked during the day shift, but it is expected that by the beginning of the following week the crushing will be kept up con* tinuously as by that time sufficient quartz will be forthcoming. The company being out of debt, and possessing crushing machinery of their own, it would not be unreasonable, taking the present pros* pectsinto consideration, to expect a fair dividend in a month or two, to be fol lowed by others at regular intervals. The cleaning up to*day resulted in 75nz* of retorted gold from 67 tons, and when it is tome in mini that the stone was raised during the process of sinking, when it becomes difficult to separate the quartz from the rubble, the yield, from such mixed lot, is very satisfac'orv. To enable the cleaning up to be finish) d to«day about 20 tons of stone was held over fur the next crushing.
