The following telegram has been received by tbe department of Mines from tbe Warden at Mount Poole :— Last Friday. 29 ult., Foley and party reported to me that tbey found a nugget of gold weighing 15oz 7dwfc 3gr m tbe drift, about 14in from the surface, at the bead of a small gully in their claim on the Whittabrena Range. There is not any water nearer than six miles from their claim. The nugget, which is tbe largest found on these diggings, lias small pieces of quarlz in if. and appears very much waterworn. It was sold on tbe foN owing day for £61, The claim upon which this nugget wa? found in -situate 35 miles north, nnd 15 deg east from the original prospectors' claim at Mount Browne, which first caused the rush to these diggings, and 25 miles south from the Queensland boundary. Experinced miners say they cannot understand tbe field, as the gold is found in small patches and at long distances apart, and tbey are of opinion that as tbe gold is traced northwards eventually the lead will be discovered. Yesterday and to-day we had 0-90 in of pain, but it has not put any water into the holes. Tbe water is nearly done, and it is downright madness fo men to rush out here, for tliey cm do nothing without water.
