August 12. In the House of Commons last night, the report on amendments by the House of Lords in the Irish Land Bill was again under consideration. A long and animated debate took placp on further of amended clauses, several of which were rejected or altered, while amendments to others were agreed to. Some violent speeches were made in the course of discussion by the Irish members, who accused the Government of acting with treachery and pandering to the wishes of the House of Lords'. ; The, debate lasted till four o'clock this morning, when cons sideration of amendments was finally 'ConcludedT^nd the Bill was returned to the House of Lords. Calcutta, August 11. Telegrams are to hand from Afghaniston reporting that Ayoub Khan although strongly supported by hi* adherents is hampered by want of arras, and that his, odvar.ee is delayed for this reason. It is also announced that a strong force of the Ameet's partizans is advancing from Cabul to Khelat Ighi'zia Fort, about 80 miles to the north-west of Car.dahar, commanding the road between that place and Cabul. Ayoub Khan, according to the latest intelligence, is still in the neighborhood of Candahar. Sydney, August 12. One of the smallpox patients named Dogherty died at the quarantine station this morning from the effects of the disease. . .;.,, Melbourne, August 12. The steamer Ferret was put up by auction to»day, but was bought in at £9000.
