The Abolition of Gold Duty Bill causes much contentions discussion. Polleston last niaht, gave the House distinctly to understand that if the duty was abolished the Goverment would distinctly decline to recognise any obligation to make up tie d< ficiency from another source. Fisher re .-id a telegram from the Inansahua County Council, favoring the abolition, and he said he should vote that the co'» lection of thp duty shall be optional with the local bodies.
