DEVIL'S CREEK,
GOLDEN POINT.
After striking the reef in the uprise as already reported, preparations were made for opening out and following the course of the reef. This has now been done both south and north — the south drive having been corns menced 46/eet from the bottom of the uprise, while the north drive was ft^rted 16 feet lower. The former is now driven a distance of 23 feet, and the latter 9 feet, tbe reef in both averaging from 18in. to 2 feet in thickness -with 8 fair show of coarse gold, and estimated to be payable. The stone is being stored in tbe end of the main tunnel, which runs 130 feet the bottom of the uprise, and acts as an excellent paddock for the present. The south drive is in the direction of tbe spot where the rich atone was found before the low level was commenced. Altogether the prospects of the company look well at present with a probability of improvement as the works progress.
