Four charges against Kendle for steal" ing letters from the post office we inves* tigated at the Court to«day. The eyi* dence against him was very strong. Ke admitted opening one letter with money in, and one witness identified bis own handwriting on burnt fragments of a letter in the grate of Bendle's apartment. The charge of letter stealing and having 25 skeleton keys in bis possession will be gone into on Tuesday. Auckland, 3.
Negotiations have been completed between Halcombe and the l'atetere Land Association for 200,000 acres to be transferred to him as the representative of English Colonists Aid Society. One thousand Acres has been ploughed and levelled for a township, twenty-five miles from Cambridge.
