It has transpired that a , meeting of the Council of notables, which bad been summoned l*y Khedive to suggest a course of action to be pursued at the present crisis of Egyptian affairs, was held to«day. The demands of the mili« tary were discussed at length, and tbe action of the officers met with general disapproval. It was ultimately resolved that Cherif Pasha should be requested to reconsider his decision of yesterday, and accept the Presidency of the Council. He was a*t length prevailed upon to accede to the wishes of the Council, and he is now engaged in tbe formation of a Cabinet. Paeis, September 13. Telegrams are to hand from 1 unis reporting that the Arab insurgents made an attack to-day upon the French position at JSagbouan, about fifty miles to the south of Tunis, in great force, comnletly surrounding the camp ; desperate fighting ensued and continued for several hours with heavy loss on both sides. It is further stated that Arabs have broken down the aqueduct which sup plied the city of Tunis with water.
