After a considerable spell of inactivity, the directors of this company have decided to resntne operations, and with that view have let 250 feet "dfstunnel driving to Horbing, Bolitho. and party, at £1 per foot. This will be an extension of the low level tunnel, which has been started about^BOQ feetr ielow the upper level, from/whictV the "company, while it was worked, obtained stoce, which yielded about 12dwt to tbe ton, and enabled the directors to deolare two dividends of 6J each. Owing to various causes, the principal being that two-thirds of the whole company (13 t osFsbaTes)~w.eie held by two large shareholders, who at that time were disinclined to incur any large outlay for driving a lower level, which it was found necessary to construct before any returns rould be expected. Nothing of any note, except tbe sinking of two winse.s has since that time been done to tbe claim, although the ground was so for ascertained to be payable. In addition to the atone in the upper level, which was soon worked out as it did not rise much above the level, it was found by sinking two stopes that the stone lived down* wards to an ascertained depth of §0 feet
