WEALH OF NATIONS.

Pending the arrival of the new steel wire. rope for the lately constructed winding gear, no regular crushing is being done at the battery, but work in the mine is prostrated uninterruptedly. Ihe block of stone near the Energetic boundary at the low level from which the last favor* able returns were obtained is still being operated on, and the quartz, broken down, is stored in the drives below until it can be raised by the aid of the new ap» plianoes. A drive has also been opened out in the old Enterprise tunnel, at a point where the track of a reef, supposed to be an extension of the old Vulcan Company's reef, was crossed at the time of construction. The drive is being pointed north, and in the direction of the bottom of the winze, which was sunk, a considerable time ago from the No. 3 level, and in which some very good stone was followed down for some distance, but not deep enough for the level of the present drive, so that after the proper distance is reached an uprise will have to be made to meet the bottom of the wioze just mentioaed. After this is completed it is expected that a good block of stone will be available and ready for taking out.
