The breakage of the pinion wheel has to a considerable extent Retarded crushing operations during the month, bq that only about ois-ha!f of the average amount of stone has been milled. This. however, bas giyen magnificept results, the cleaning up to-day yielding 1168ozs of amalgam for one weeks crushing. The retorted gold for abont two weeks crush* ing this month was taken to Beefton today, and weighed 7640z5. Tbe new pinion wheel was brought-.up to-day, and will be kept in reserve for an emergency sucb ss lately occurred. The battery haa worked very well tliis week, after a careful overhaul had been made to repair damages. A flywheel about 3 tons in weight, apd a longer shaft bave been ordered from Victoria, and will on arrival bp added to the machinery.
