The platform was filled by influential people, amongst them being Mr PlavftH, late Keefton clergyman. The speakers consisted of. Messrs Oliver, Weston, Olivier, Brookes, and Andrews, M.H.K. Resolutions were passed re* commending the formation of a company, About two thousand shares were sub* scribed in the roonifwhicb, with those promised, will give a total of about eight thousand. The probabilities are in favor of the establishment of a company. The Premier leaves for Wellington toaday. Auckland, October 10.. At the police Courtjthis morning three Native Witnesses in the case of Soubrisky, charged with rape on a Maori woman, recently heard at the Supreme Coqrt, were charged with conspiracy, two of them being likewise charged with perjury ; the case has been adjourned till Wednesday. . An old man named William Harris, who hobbled into the dock on crutches got three months fo.r keeping a house of ill- fame, where girls of tender years were led astray ; Sergeant Hardy informed the Bench that a large number of girls from 14 to 17 years had been ruined in this way.
