REEFTON JOCKEY CLUB.
♦ A meeting of the Eeefton Jockey Club was held at the office of Mr Lee, on Monday evening, the 10th instant, when there were present : Messrs Mirfin (chair), Dawson, Quigley, W. Williams, Twohill, Beilby, Richardson, O'Neil, Paine, M. Williams, Mitchell, tC. Edwards, Smith, and Lee. Minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed. Mr Beilby reported that Mr Dawson and himself had canvassed'the town, and had obtained subscriptions to the amount £108, which would be largely augmented on a closer canvass. Proposed by Mr! Williams, seconded by Mr Twobill, and carried, that the forthcoming races be held at Smiths' paddock on the course of the club: Additional members fees and supplementary subscriptions were then handed in. Proposed by Mr Quigley, seconded by Mr Williams, and carried, that a Grand Stand to accommodate 400 persons be erected in a convenient place in the straight running, Proposed by Mr Mirfio, seconded by Mr Quiglev, that Messrs Williams, Beilby, and Twohill, be elected a sub* committee to prepare a programme of races for the ensuing meeting, and to submit the same before a meeting of the c!u-> to be held on Wednesday next, the 12th instant, at 8 p.m. — carried. The following accounts wore passed j for payment: — J. Hazel, £7 9s; J'.. Dash, £1 10 mT. O'Hcgin, £7 10; nnd
W. Cochrane, £3 ; in addition, a bonus of 20s was granted to J. Hazel, for the efficient manner in which he had prepared the course. After a discussion as to the exact site for the Grand Stand, and the approaches thereto, the meeting adjourned till Wednesday, 12th instant, at 8 p.m.
