O. P. S.
[TO TJIE EDITOB UTANGAIIUA TIMES] Sib, — Having read in your paper of the 7th instant a short letter expressive of much thankfulness for small mercies, and as I happen to be one of the particular donees included in the official category, I, as a matter of course, ought to have acknowledged the same. But there is a particularity connected with the subject which to me is rather unintelligible. No doubt there are some amongst us who are possessed of greiler acumen than my bumble self, who can penetrate the dark recesses of political intrigue, and reve::! to the confiding public, self included, what otherwise might appear an intricate enigma. The most puzzling feature con* aected with the novel policy is the (apparently) partial, one-sided manner in
which superabundant reennir.rr !vnf;:s are distributed.
