We are enabled to announce that Mr Weston has decided to stand for Beef« ton at the forthcoming General Assembly election. It will, we are sure, be taken that the delay which has occurred in finally replying to his Reefton requisi* tionists has not|arisen on Mr Weston 's part through any feeling' of douty as to the amount of support 'likely to be accorded to him here. Indeed the assurances on this head have been so strong and numerous that no possible room for distrust was left, many of Mr Weston's former opponents having joined, cordially in the invitation. Out of courtesy, how* ever, to many warm and valued friends and supporters in Greymouth. the den lay wns unavoidable. But although Mr Weston ha 9 been driven to make an election between the two. constituencies, we feel certain he will in the event of his election, be a no less firm friend of Greynloutb than if elected for that seat That be should have decided to cast in his lot with the Inangahua, is only in keeping with the professions of attach* merit be has often made, but beyond this we may add the strong reciprocal interest we have in the mid-land railway project, the accomplishment of which i? the one task to which ha has resolutely set himself.
