JOST.IN-Tl^ft A very great improvement has taken place in the mine during the past week. Not being satisfied with the course of the south drive, the manager directed Ihe contractors to cat into the hanging wnll side of the drive (to the east) where in a short distance an apparently strong body of stone was. After breaking into (his it was found about 3 feet wide, showing a good percentage of gold. Less than the average quantity of quartz from the stones and elsewhere has been sent to the paddock owing to the great quality ' of mullock, which had to be hoisted.
