HOUSE OP REPRESENTATIVES. Electoral District of Ixanoahua. /GENTLEMEN — Having done me the honor of inviting me to offer myself as a Candidate for the representation of the loangahua in the coming Parliament, I place my Candidature in your bands with the fullest confidence. I regret that fau?ily matters prevent me from visiting the Eiectorate before the polling day ; but I trust that my absence will not be attributed either to a want of reuard for the honor you hare done me, or indifference to your dis» trict. Thit the reason of my detention here is sufficient to compel me io the course indicated I am sure you will do me the credit of believing. My views upon the various public questions have undergone no change whatever since I addressed you in June last, and should you do me the honor of again returning me it will be my aim . to advance the opinions and promises then expressed for the well»being of the whole electorate. That my Candidature may be exposed to some misrepresentation, is but the penalty of my absence But I rely con* i fidently upon the spirit of fair play which is nowhere more conspicuous than in mining communities. I desire that I may be judged by my actions in the past, i and upon this^ground I confidently , ask for a renewal of your confidence. [ am not conscious of having deviated in a single particular from the line of conduct prescribed in June last, and it , an adherence to those principles, and an * active and conscientious desire to serve your interests form any ground of quali* fication, then I may without egotism ask for your suffrages. In conclusion, Gentlemen, should you honor me with a renewal of your confidence my best energies shall be de< voted to the advancement of the district, and there is no duty which a representa--1 tive owes his constituents that I will not at all times faithfully perform, and to the more fully enable me to do this I shall not fail to visit the whole electorate before the next session of Parliament. I remain, yours faithfully, THOMAS S. WESTON. i Christchurcb, Ist December, 1831.
