A fearful disaster has ju^ be« fa'.lan Elm, a small village of 900 mhabitants in the CaDton of Glaru% Lipfc night at six o'clock and at midnight, immense masses ot th e neighboring mountain, the Tachingei became detached, and were burled down on the village. Thirty houses were buried beneath the earth and rjclis, and it is feared ♦■bat 200 human beings have perished, including 40 men from neighboring villages, who when the first landslip occured, had hurried to the successor of Elm. The Senret river, on which the villas is situate, has been turned into a lake fifteen metres deep, and it ja feared that the valley beneath will be flooded. The Federal Governor lias despatched troops to the spot to rendbr any a-, aistance that may be possible.
