Work has now been resumed after the Christmas holidays at nearly the whole of the mines and Tuesday next, being the first working day;J of tlie New Year will, no doubt, see ia very large number of the long idle leases once more manned. Work of a prospecting^ character has also been begun upon Several of the recently granted leases^ and the excellent samples of stone already obtained upon many of them should bfcing some^ new and important finds to tHe front in the course of the next few weekjl; « Altogether the mining prospects of t^e field open well for the. new year. \
