REEFTON STATE SCHOOL.
The annual meeting of householders for the purpose of electing a local School Committee for the ensuing year, was held in the school building on Monday evening last. Mr John Harold moved, and Mr W. Atkin seconded, that Mr C. Mirfin take the chair. Mr Mirfin immediately took the chair. The lion, secretary of the outgoing committee (Mr D. 0. Preshaw) read the report for the past year, and the report was received and adopted. Mr Blakley moved a vote of thanks to the retiring committee, which was seconded by Mr Thorburn, and earned. Mr Potts said that in the face of the motion of approval just passed, he would move "That the retiring committee be re-elected." The resolution was seconded by Mr Weame. Mr Harold nominated Mr William Gardner. Mr Potts requested that his motion might be put. The chairman refused to put the resolution to the meeting. Mr W. H. Jones then moved, that the chairman be requested to leave the chair, and on this resolution being put to the meeting, it was carried by a large majority. Mr Potts was then voted to the chair. The chairman then moved that "The retiring committee be re-elected." Mr John Harold moved as an amendment, that nominations be received singly, and this was seconded by Mr Atkin, and on being put to the meeting was carried, the votes being 5 for the resolution, and 7 for the amendment. The following nominations were then made : — W, H. Jones, nominated by W. Faler. R. Patterson, nominated by A. -Moore. J. Stevenson, nominated by J. Thorburn. D. 0. Preshaw, nominated by A. Kater. W. Gardner, nominated by J. Harold. T. Watson, nominated by D. 0. Preshaw. J. Steelo, nominated by C. Mirfin. ;A. Seawright, nominated by J. | Wearne. W. Boers, nominated by T. Crumpton. Walter Atkin, nominated by John ftarojil. * I
Moved by Mr Preshaw, that the meeting stand adjourned until Wednesday •evening, and that a poll be then taken for the election of a coinnrittce. i Jlr Harold moved as an amendment I that the meeting adjourn until Tuesday evening for election of committee," and that Mr G. Mirfin be the Returning Officer. The amendment on being put to the meeting was lost, and the resolution was then carried. Mr Harold moved that Mr Mirfin be the Returning Officer, to which there was no seconder. • A vote of thanks to the chair, closed the proceedings.
