COMEDY AND BURLESQUE COMPANY.
This company, numbering 14, opened at Kater's Hall last Friday 4n "Struck Oil" to a good house, tlile piece was capitally mounted and excellently played. On Saturday the bill was a strong one, commencing with the laughable 2-act comedy of "Checkmate," in which Misses Johns and Wyatt, and Messrp Wilkinson, Alexander, and Lissant, kept the house in continuous roars of laughter. In the musical melange that followed, Messrs Porter and Lissant displayed their grand wmtone voices to good effect. Mibs Amy Johns sang " Killarney " charmingly, and was encored. Mr Barry O'Neil astonished and delighted every one with his lightning changes. The concluding item, the burlesque of "Trbvatore" sent all home in the merriest humour, and with but the one opinion that the evening's j entertainment was thoroughly worth the j time spent and money paid. On Monday, a grand operatic selection night_was given, introducing all the gems from the new operas, the "Pirates of Penzance," " Cloches de Corneville," and " Maritana," and fully displayed the vocal as well as the histrionic abilities of the company. Mr Wilkinson executed a dance in capital style, and Mr O'Neil was encored three times for his comic songs. To-night (Wednesday) the company will produce "The Waterman,' made famous by the name of Sims Reeves, followed by a ! musical bouquet, and concluding with the evergreen farce of the "Steeplechase." To-morrow (Thursday) a great treat is in store for the juveniles in a Christmas and j New Year Pantomime, and we predict a crowded house, as the Btay of the company is short, we advise all our readers not to stand upon the order of going, but go-
