LOW LEVEL TUNNEL.
A fresh contract for an additional section of 200 feet has been lot to Messrs Edmund Roberts and Co. at £2 113 9d per foot, and work is in progress with four men. The work ha 3 all along been lerformcd by six men, and the number will be made up in a day or two. In future contracts it would be advisable to stipulate that nine men be employed, as thia arrangement would considerably accelerate the speed at which the tunnel is now being constructed. necessary for trucking debris and timber, and three men per shift could now easily find constant employment.
