REEFTON FIRE BRIGADE.

♦__ A meeting of the Fire Brigade was held ; at the Engine-shed on Thursday evening, 9th February, 1882. There were present a large number of working and honorary, members of the brigade. Minutes of the previous meeting were , confirmed. The chairman then rettd the list of all , members to the brigade, including a large portion of the community, and mentioned the amounts due for fines. Moved by Mr Collings, seconded by ' Mr Dick, and carried, that all fines be paid previous to voting for the office of nightwatchman. A letter was read from the County Engineer respecting stand pipes, and was received, wherein he reports that standpipes could be procured for the town at 15s. per lineal foot, to which will have to be added 50s. for brass couplings. These pipes would stand the test of six hours pumping with the fully manned engine, and he would recommend them to the attention of the Brigade. There were nineteen applications sent in for the office of nightwatchman. A ballot having been taken, Mr John Little was re-elected.
