(from our own correspondents.) Christchurch, February 13. A young man named Burton, a gasfitter, was found dead this morning in his shop apparently poisoned by some poisonous liquid used in his trade. He was given to drinMng. February 14. The accident at Southbridge to Mrs Abbott and family was caused by one of the horses working carrying grain from the stack slipping his blinkers, and bolting with dray to which he was attached towards the stables. On seeing Mrs Abbott and her children the horse suddenly swerved and upset the dray on them, with sad result reported yesterday. A little boy, two years old, who received a serious blow on the top of his head was, when picked up, found with his brain protruding. Littles hopes are entertained of his recovery. Dunedin, February 14. At a meeting of the Tablet Company shareholders, one dissenting, refused to give the paper to Bishop Moran, but authorised the directors to present him with £200. The paper to be continued under present management. The Austrian band concerts are a great success. Hokitika, February 13. On Thursday last it was reported to the Goldsborough police by a miner named Joseph Grosse, that while working with his three mates they found the skeleton of a man at the bottom of a shaft fifteen feet deep, until recently full of water. The shaft is situated at Foxes about eight miles from Hokitika. From inquiries made by the police it is believed that the remains are those of a miner named Domini co Boserini,, whose hut was situated about thirty yards from the shaft whore the body was discovered. Miller, a storekeeper at Foxes, states that on the 1 8th September, 1 877, Boserini paid him some money. On the evening of that day, Boserini's j hut, together with all its contents, ,were destroyed l>y fire, and since thd clay just mentioned, th c
man disappeared. Miller states he held a mortgage over Boserini's claim for £100 and he imagined that Boserini had gone away in order to evade payment of the money. Wellington, 14. His Excellency intends leaving for Canterbury with his family and suite on Thursday next.
