THE Inangahua Times. PUBLISHED TRI - WEEKLYFRIDAY, FEBRUARY 17, 1882.

Wb are indebted to the courtesy of Mr T. SrWestoh, M.H.B, for a copy of the Official Programme of the Christchurch Exhibition, which has now been definitely fixed to open on the 10th of April next The following informal tion which we extract is of interest to intending .exhibitors : ■— Applications; for ispace, with full particulars of the; lb*£ncTed exhibit, can be made at once, at the* office of the promoters, Cathedral Square, and will be received up to. the Ist March. The ordinary charge' for space -will be two shillings for each, of the first twenty square feet, and one; shilling for 1 every additional square foot, but exhibitors desiring a frontage to the main avenue for their cases cau obtain it on payment- of an additional--5a per foot of such frontage, irrespective of depth. Special . arrangements fer the purchase at five guineas a-piece of bays, having 12ft frontage by 15ft depth, can be made. All applications must be accompanied by payment of the full amount for the space. The general reception of articles to the Exhibition building will commence on the 20th March and cease the Sunday before the opening, after which date no •exhibits can be received, and all vacant spaces become forfeited. All exhibits must be removed within ten days after the close of the Exhibition, after which time they will be removed and stored at the risk and expense of the owner. Exhibits will be admitted in bond, and can be sold free of charge so long as they are not removed before the close of the Exhibition; but exhibitors who wish to make sales with immediate delivery must pay duty in advance, together with a license fee of £2 10s. per week per .stand. All fittings, show-cases, shelving, Ac, which exhibitors require, must be provided at; their owh expense. Every precaution will be taken for the safe preservation of all exhibits against theft or fire; but the Executive can undertake ho responsibility for accidents however caused. Further information may be obtained on^pplication . promor tets. JilfojWestw- sug^ts thai one* , bafc,#r«B«raa^ Reefton aM;, GMfoou^ m$ mS; would cost £5, plus the slight additional charge for fittings, show cases, and so forth. It will be seen from the extract given above that no exhibits will be received , later than about the sth of April. This allows ample time for the collection of mineralogies! specimens, which will no doubt form the staple contribution from this district In view of the importance which is now attaching to the cement industry here, it would also be advisable to forward sis many samples of this class as possible. With quartz, cement, coal, antimony, pyrites, hermatite, galena, and the numerous other valuable minerals to be found in the Inangahua, a very attractive case might be prepared. Samples of the different varieties of local timbers, ' both in Ilit-: rough and polished state, might also be added, as well as a sample of the marble and " Turky " stone to be found in the upper Inangahua. Our goldfield is perhaps hardly strong enough yet to boast in cubical measure of its gross gold production, but an illuminated card mfcht be placed in the case, showing such figures in reference to th& history of the field generally, as

might be considered advisable. Such companies as the Welcome, Golden Fleece, Wealth o£ Nations, a^ on|por two others, might possibly* 'al lij^'ffifebase Of a number of Victorian minfia at the Melbourne Exhibition, feet <fisposed to erect separate gilded pecfeatals snomng in bulk the total gold 'yield from each. The cost of this would not be heavy, probably about £5 or so each* aad would da more to draw attention to the district than a volume of sitatistica. However, apart from this, it rests with the County Council whether the Inangahua shall be welljpr, ill-represented at the Exhibition, and we think we express the general feeling of the community in hoping that that body will deal with the matter in no niggardly spirit
