BOATMAN'S.
THE GORGE.
The name itself of this company, denotes its position from a Capleston point of view, in the near vicinity of wliich township the ground held is situated. A small vein of stone was found in the claim a while ago, and as the era of new discoveries about that time had just set in, it was decided to follow the track which is now being done to the extent of 18 feet. During the driving the formation seemed to improve in appearance, and the Stone now in the face is about one foot wide, which on being crushed gives payable prospects. At the face of the drive, and about two feet from the bottom, there is at present also another block of stone coming in from the foot wall, which aho carries a little gold. Should this lead on to a permanent reef, the discovery will be of vast importance, as it would open quite a new line of country in this noted locality. However, prospecting operations will be continued and the ground properly tried, and it is intended to register the company to ensure efficient management.
