HAPPY VALLEY (Merrijigs.)
Some good stone was found here some time before Christmas, and a lease was applied for upon which a deal of prospecting has been done since. A tunnel of 40 feet has now been driven to intersect the surface stone at a depth of 30 feet. This has been now accomplished and about 4 feet of gold-bearing stone is showing in the face. About Bor 10 leases are taken up in this locality and the holders express iheir feitention to thoroughly prospect the ground. At present the difficulties of access to the place will operate against its speedy development, but this drawback to the place will have to be removed by constructing a passable road, which the importance of the locality will probably demand shortly at the hands of the county authorities.
