(from our own correspondent.^ London, March 3, A sculling match has been arranged between Trickett and Hanlan for £500 a-side, to take place on the usual Thames course on Monday, Ist May. The Queen continues well, her health suffering in noway inconsequence of the attempt upon her life. Universal sympathy is manifested towards Her Majesty, telegrams having been received to-day from the various foriegn courts testifying to the sympathy which is felt, and the expression of gratification at Her Majesty's providential escape from injury. The bullet which was fired from the assailant's revolver has been found near the scene of outrage. London, March 6. A farmer and his sons were attacked in County Clare by sixteen armed ruffians for having paid rent The farmer and one son were killed. Washington, March 6. Disastrous floods have occurred in Arkansas and adjoining states by the overflowing of the Mississippi and its tributaries. An enormous extent of country has been flooded, with a great loss of life and property. 50,000 persons are left destitute. j Senate is now discussing the total exclusion of Chinese from the United States and the bill is greatly approved. Throughout California monster petitions in support of the measure are'pouring in. Sydney, March 6. The Australians totalled 260 runs. The Englishmen in their second innings scored nine wickets for 121 runs.
