LYELL MINING.
(Times.) CRCESUS. Friday March 10. No 2 level is now in about 140 feet, and the driving very fair. Leaders are occasionally met with, one two inches thick having been crossed on to day. A stream of water was also tapped, but from the feet that the winze in No. 1 level could not be sunk through the quantity of water which made, it is thought that some wet country will be met with at a lower leveL No. 3 level is in 93 feet, and the country very solid. Mr Fantella reckons that 13 feet more will bring him under the end of the shoot. An extra set will then be driven to give more room. Theup-rise, tenders for which are now called, will be 40 feet, vertical from the top of the tuanel. The pass will be 6ft x Sit, substantially logged, and the paddock at the top, together with the pass, should hold about 80 tons.
