REEFTON HANDICAPPING.
TO THB EDITOR INANGAHUA TIMES. Sir, — Surely there is something rotten in the State of Denmark ; as a stranger and an observer of men amd the times. How comes it that the weight for horses for the present meeting is so obviously unfair f Three and four-year old horses are made to concede on the average 2st to old and tided horses whose wins and performances are well known, against the almost apprenticeship of tba youngsters? again, in the second handicapping Fishhook instead of receiving an impost for winning tiie first day's big money, has 21bs. less to carty, and the distance shorter, while horses who were entirely out of it, and Bide-a-wee, who was second, are treated on the same terms. In my humble opinion there is great room for amendment in tiiis matter, amd unless this is done farewell to toe good name and fame of horse-racing in Reefton. lam, dec., Thb Casual Observer.
