WELCOME. The returns from this mine for the past week show only 815ozs. of amalgam, but this falling off may be accounted for by the fact that some poor stone had, to be removed and'put through in order to facilitate the working of the mine, though it was known to carry less gold than that recently crushed. Its removal will allow the manager to get at better stone, and the late returns may be looked forward to in future. The battery is in excellent working order, and the mine never looked better," The chamber for sinking the shaft is still being extended, and no time will be lost in opening up the lower level, already proved by the winze sunk. It is anticipated that within three months th
main shaft will bo started. There is at the present levels sufficient stone to occupy the mill for two years, so that when the level contemplated is completed, it may not be required for a long time.
