In the House of Commons to-day Gladstone confirmed the statement which has been current that it had been suggested by the French Government that a Conference of European Powers should be held for thp settlement of the; Egyptian crisis. The Premier further stated that the Sultan was sending Imperial Commissioners to Egypt on board Turkish iron-clads, which are about to leave for Alexandra. The Australian cricketers commenced their sixth match to-day, at Manchester, against eleven of the County of Lancashire. Intelligence has been received that the barque Don Quillino, has foundered during a gale at the Friendly Islands, and all the officers were lost, and only five of those on board were saved.
