The battery was not going during last week, work being confined to sinking the winze to prove the new block. Some little delay was occasioned in the sinking, owing to a shelf coming in on the dip of the reef, and throwing the stone to the north, and too flat to carry the winze after it. A drive of 15ft. on the shelf when the reef was found to dip back into its regular course. The stone throughout carries good gold, and is estimated to yield loz. per ton. The winze is now down 35ft
