Edward Shannan, a miner at Black Creek, near Woodstock, while working in a tunnel was covered up all but his head, by some timber giving way. Whilst his mate was endeavoring to extricate him some tons of earth fell on Shannan, and when he was got out, life was extinct. Deceased was 34 years old. He leaves a wife, but no family.
