(from our own correspondent. > London, June 12. The cricket match, Australians v. Derbyshire, commenced to-day. The weather was cold and inclement, but the attendance of spectators was very large. The Home team went in first and were disposed of for a total of 106. The Australians then commenced their first innings, and at the close of the day's play had lost 2 wickets for 136 runs. Massie was bowled out for 66 and Bannerman caught for 24. Alexandra, June 12. 0. A. Cookson, Hritish Consul at this city, who was seriously wounded during the disturbance which occurred on the 10th, is improving in health. The Imperial Turkish Commision is still negotiating with the National party with the view to effect a settlement of the political crisis. Arabi Pasha remains master of the situation. He has, during an interview with Dervish Pasha, promised the latter that he will obey the commands of the Khedive, and maintain order among the natives. The Khedive, accompanied by the Chief Turkish Commissioner, Dervish Pasha, has left Caiio for this city. Naples, June 12. In the Chamber of Deputies to-day, Signor Mancini, Minister for Foreign Affairs, declared in a speech which he made with reference to the state of affairs in Egypt, that his Government would absolutely refuse to assent to armed intervention by England and France in that country. Melbourne, This day, A comet was visible shortly after sunset yesterday. In the Legislative last night, Frances submitted a resolution setting forth that the proposed Kemission of Taxation as announced in the Treasurer's Budget, was inconvenient and undesirable in view of the improbability of there being any surplus at the end of the present financial year. Frances declared that his resolution was not a vote of want of donfidence in the Government. Sir Bryan O'Loghlen moved adjournment of the debate and the House then rose.
