O.gILBERT, DENTIST, WILL VISIT REEFTONJ About the 25th AUGUST. j BAYLOR'S AND COS IMPROVED HOCK-BORER. MR. NAYCOF, one of the Patentees af this little Machine, was one of the first to introduce and successfully work The American National Rock- ' Borer in Victoria, the inventors of which are entitled to the thanks of the mining community, as from reliable infor- . tnation I received concerning this machine in that Colony, I consider it was the best Rock-Borer in the Colonies prior to the introduction of Baylor's- and Co's machine. The Rock- Borer now in use in the -Golden Fleece Extended mine is the second one made of Naylor and Co's machines. The first one was introduced by .VI r Naylor into the Exteuded Company's mine, Stavreil, of which he is legal manager and engineer, about twelve months ago, and the machine did auch good work that the Directors of the Company — who Are also Directors of the Crown Cross Company, and Mr Naylor, the Engineer — had the machine removed to the latter 'Company's mine, for the purpose of facilitating the sinking of the main shaft, when it worked for several months alongside of a National Rock-Borer, the result -of which was the merits of the two machines being fully determined, the Crown Cross Company ordered another of lfaylor's and Co's -machines, which has been completed, and v now successfully »l work with its elder brother in the company's mine, and lam credibly informed *hat this little machine is now. in general use in Stawell, and will soon become so throughout the Colonies. This Borer is superior to other machines in the Colonies in' many points, ft is much lighter, weighing only loOlbs, including clips ; it is eight inches ■ shorter than the If atiorial small machine ; the jmode of shifting the drill much easier, the time taken' will not exceed half a minute. It has less working parts, consequently is less expensive to in per pair; the material is of the best description, being nq»riy all cast-steel, with the of the jacket, which is made of malleable oast iron, aud the machine s (Can do its work effectively with less motive power through the improved construction of its valves. Those desirous oi .obtoiaiag some practical information about ifchese Drills should apply to someone who is competent to express *o opiflion upon the machines, .and has had the keeping of them' ln repair, or has had the driving of them. Mr. R. Beh,, who is driving the Rock-Borer i» the Golden fleece Extended mine drove the National Bock-Borer at S{uwell for about (eighteen months, and Ityyjor and Co.'s jnacjiine for about six months, and is well acquainted with the merits of both machines. The : one under his charge at present is giving the utmost satisfaction la .the Company. J, TRENNERY, , gent.
