The matter of the Linden rival Licensing Committees came before the Supreme Court to-day. The Judge granted the application, saying the construction of the Act was somewhat doubtful. The Japeneso war ship Tsukuba arrived to-night from Hobart. Auckland, 19. Sir Guorge Grey has telegraphed to
gentlemen here signifying his intention of presenting his library to the citizens of Auckland, the Mayor and Corporation for the titne being to act as trustees. There are some very rare volumes in the collection, valued at from £1.000 to £2000 each. I New Plymouth, 19, St. Andrew's Church, belonging to | the Presbyterian body, and respecting the possession of which a dispute has lately arisen between the pastor and his congregation, was burnt down this morning, shortly after 1 o'clock. It is expected that an inquiry will be held, as incendiarism is suspected.
