Wellington, 7. The following Bills were received back from the Legislative Council with amendments, in which the concurrence of the Lower House was requested : — The resumption of Land for Mining Purposes Bill ; Reserves and Endowments in Mining Districts Bill. The House resumed the consideration in committee on the t ounties Act Amendment Biil. After several amendments had been proposed and lost,, the Speaker* resumed his seat, when Major Atkinson movod the 3rd reading of the Roads and Baidges Construction Bill, which had Seen recommitted. Mr Montgomery announced his intention to call for a division on the third reading, by way of entering his protest against the principle of the measure. Hutchison, at the Colonial Treasurer's suggestion, moved the adjournment of the Rebate till^he jnext sitting, jffhich vt^ canned on the voices. The amendments made to the Counties ißill were agreed to, and the third readng ordered for the next sitting. At midnight the leader of the House moved the suspension of the Standing Orders to enable him to move the second reading of some ten or twelve other Bills successively. There was not G4 members present, and consequently the motion could not be put.
