Work on the bridge at the Inangahua Junction will soon be commenced by the enterprising contractors, McLean and Son, who have' got the contract in hand. They are now inviting tenders for timber required, sawn and squared, specifications for which may be seen at this office, at Milt. Waite's, Junction, and at Gallagher Bros. M cLean and Co are well knowTi in the North Island, and have carried out some of the largest works ever executed there in a most satisfactory manner. There is no doubt that the bridge they are now about to build, will be as faithfully and well put together as other structures of a similar kind on which they have previously been engaged. We are informed that Mr Lucas received notification from Wellington on Monday last that the Globe lease was granted. There are very encouraging accounts from the Advance, which 'adjoins the Globe. The Imperial will start crushing on Monday next at the Just-in-Tiuie battery.
