NAYLOH AND COS NEW NATION ALJROOR BOREII3. ♦ TO THE EDITOII INANOAHUA TIMES. QIK — As some contradictory opinions relative to the merits of the above Machines have been expressed recently through the columns of the Reefton newspapers, I beg to hand you the following report, which will speak for itself, and the names attached thereto should be a sufficient guarantee of its bona fides. J. Trennery. THE CROAVN CROSS REEF' UNITED MINING COMPANY, LIMITED. Stawell, 2nd Sept., 1882. John Naylou, Esq., Stawell, Dear Sir. — I have much pleasure in enclosing herewith a Report from our Mining Manager, Mr John Bass, on the NAYLOU i COS BOCK DRILLS, used in our Mine, I may add that the Works Committee, who have had frequent opportunities of seeing the Drills at work, have formed the very highest opinion as to their capabilities, and their superiority over any other 1-rill tried in our Mine. I am, dear sir, yours truly, E. G. BENNETT. Manager. THE CROWN CROSS REEF UNITED MINING COMPANY, LIMITED. St.xWkll, Sept. 2nd, 1882. Having been requested to Report on the Rock Prills used in the above Company's Mine, I bog to state that in reference to the sinking of the Company's Main Shaft, an average distance of 14 and three tenths feet per week has been sunk through very hard blue rock country, with three shifts of men, and the assistance of two Rock Drills. 'Jhe lock Borers used have been Naylor and Company's and the " National," and after twelve mouths' experience of these two Machines, I find that whilst both Machines work efficiently and well, the former, viz., NAYLORand C mpany's excels the latter in the following respects : — lt is about 701 b lighter, and can be easily handled by two men ; it takf s less air to drive it ; the speed of drilling, from repeated observation, is at least twenty-five per cent, in advance, while the vibration on the pole is less. It starts easily,, with very light blows to cut collars, and from the simplicity of its construction, and less number of working parts the wear and tear on the Machine is considerably diminished. John Bass, Mining Manager. James Gordon ) ... . E.I.C Grxkt } I)iroctora Thos. Kinsella, Chairman of Directors. IN TilE ESTATE OF PETER ALSTAP. TO LET.
