LYELL MINING.

(Times.) ALPINE RANGE. CRCESUS. Friday, September 22. The contractors in No. 2 level continue to meet with exceptionally hard driving, and are making but little headway. It is stated by several practical miners that the country gone through in this contract is the hardest run they have seen during their experience. The foot-wall montioned last week still continues, paralled with, the tunnel but does not seem to alter the state of the driving. There is as yet no further indication of the reef.
